Melissa is primarily self taught, always a student of her craft, however, she did study art at Indiana University SE and The University of New Mexico. Her passion has always been painting; acrylic, oil, and watercolor. One critic called her paintings “luminous hieroglyphics”.
Melissa has shown her work at galleries in Albuquerque, New Orleans, Louisville, and Anchorage, Alaska. She has been published in fashion magazines and has been commissioned for book covers, murals and portraits of all types.
She moved to beautiful Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina in 2007 with her husband and son and was deeply inspired (and occasionally disturbed) by the history, mystery and beauty of the Lowcountry.
Melissa is currently showing her work (both photography and paintings) at The Courtyard Art Gallery at 149 1/2 East Bay Street in the historic French Quarter of down town Charleston.
She is obsessed with digital photography and has been shooting everything in sight since her move to South Carolina. Her current focus is on alternative lifestyles, fashion, weddings, portraits, fine art digital compilations and vintage photography.
